Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is used to treat a wide range of medical conditions and injuries.  It is made up of several different techniques used to manipulate the soft tissue includes, but is not limited to:

   * Myofascial Release - which targets the fascial sheaths surrounding the muscle. This is a deeper, slower technique where less oil is used in order to "grip" the tissue and help to release any restricted areas.


   * Deep Tissue Massage - utilises deep strokes to primarily target problems of the soft tissue.  This technique can create some discomfort; however it is kept within each individual’s therapeutic pain level.


   * Sports Massage - Whether you are a professional athlete or weekend warrior, sports massage focuses on the areas you need improved in order to perform to the best of your ability in your chosen sport. It can also be beneficial post event to address any injuries encountered and also speed up the recovery process.

   * Trigger Point Therapy - A trigger point is a hyper-irritable point within the muscle tissue which can cause localised and referred pain, and also decrease the functionality of the muscle itself. This treatment is used to manually deactivate trigger points, often by applying direct pressure to the area.


   * Myofascial Dry Needling - uses acupuncture needles to specifically target trigger points. The technique involves the insertion of a super-fine acupuncture needle into an acutely contracted muscle bundle to deactivate the trigger point. Following a treatment it is common to experience some local pain or tenderness, however these can be easily mitigated with some light stretching and a heat pack.
